web page

 What is a web page?

  •  A web page is the representation of a document which resides at a remote site. This is key to understanding what the web itself is and the implications. If a "web" document resides on the machine you are working from, the document is called an HTML document.
  • A web page has the wonderful feature of allowing embeded references to other pages.
  • When you "visit" this web page you are instructing your browser to go get a copy of of this page from Virginia. The computer then uses the telephone wires to request a copy from the machine in Virginia. The machine in Virginia sends back the copy and viola, there it is on your screen. If the page were to be modified this evening and you came back tomorrow you would see the new web page (ignore caches for now).

Now,I created the webpage  for learning computer in language teaching subject.

Everyone can see my web page : http://pavinanl.webng.com/

What Are the Advantages of Podcasting? thumbnail

What is a Podcast?

A podcast is an MP3 or other audio file delivered off a Web site via an RSS feed.
Let's break it down. Podcast is derived from the terms "iPod" and "broadcast". It is attributed to the original creators of podcasting who used iPods to listen to their RSS broadcasts. Then Apple added an RSS reader to the iTunes software, making it simple for anyone with an iPod to subscribe and listen to podcasts. All you need to know is the URL of the RSS or XML.

The Benefits of Using Podcasting in The Classroom

      Advantages / Disadvantages of Podcasting

Podcasting has been a popular method of delivering audio and video content over the internet for about the past 5 years. During this time, a growing number of teachers have embraced podcasts as an exciting way to make learning more effective and fun. Teachers have used this technology to record lectures or presentations that can be accessed by students at a later time. They have also used podcasting to record school performances and events for the benefit of students as well as their parents. Perhaps the most exciting use of this technology is its application in project-based learning. Students involved in creating podcasts must use higher levels of thinking and creativity as well as problem solving skills. They have the opportunity to use their imaginations by writing and acting out scripts while learning how to work with the technology itself.

Advantages:

  • available anytime/anywhere for students
  • easy to create, distribute, and download -- no professional equipment is required
  • new podcasts are auto-downloaded
  • can restrict podcasts to students enrolled in the course
  • power of audio over text -- students can listen and learn while walking, riding, waiting in line, etc.
Disadvantages:
  • entire file is downloaded to students' computer/device
  • need sufficient bandwidth to download the podcasts in a timely fashion
  • limited usefulness for hearing impaired people
  • no interactivity -- audience cannot participate, etc.
  • intellectual property issues

This is website for download podcasts.
